Reset Check Engine Light

Reset Check Engine Light
This is my first Mercedes... 2006 C230 V6. Check Engine Light just came on and is steady. I am looking to reset the light and delete the stored codes so that I can start fresh and see what error(s) are recorded from a clean board.
Question: Cam I reset the the light and clear the codes without an OBDII scanner? Thank You!

Same issue as jamminc230
Hi,
My check engine light came on today. I went to Auto Zone and they used the OBDII scanner on my car. Came back with code PO128, which is most likely the thermostat or the coolant temp. sensor. I live in Houston and have a private mechanic work on my car. He's fixed my brakes before and I purchased the brake parts prior to him repairing my car. I've been searching online all evening for a replacement thermostat for my car, but am coming up empty handed. I found one here: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/200...hermostat.html, but they're out of stock. I don't want to go to the dealership because I know they'll probably charge a small fortune. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement thermostat online or in Houston?
I don't care to reset my check engine light, as my mechanic is performing service A on my car this coming week. I just want to find the replacement thermostat.
Thanks!
Heather

Scanner to reset
JAMMINC230,
Quick answer no. you need a scanner but not just a scanner. less costly one will only scan ME computer. you would need one that scans all computer/modules because you really don't know what system is causing the code/problem

You are correct... I thought I included the Model. Working on a 2006 C230 V6... I have been looking at the ACTRON OBDII Scanners... just haven't pulled the trigger due to the cost. In the past, I've borrowed one from a local Auto Parts store... always works well on Toyota, Dodge, Ford, etc... hopefully it will talk to the C230 just as well. Any advice?

Reset engine lamp on
if you do this by disconnecting & reconnecting battery there is a possiblity that you can blow out rear SAM or any other computer / module. and alot of times you will create more problems then what you have now. you will set many more codes in computers because of what they think is a low voltage problem again because you disconnected battery

I just purchased a used 1998 C280 last weekend. I absolutely love the car. The former owner installed a cd player and high energy lights improperly I would guess. The check engine lights stays (on), break lights stay (on), mileage (not showing properly (ex......LLL99), and clock light (no working). I had a mechanic give the car a good look over, he ran the computer on it and all. He only noticed the breaks will need to be replaced in about 6 months. Do you think the dashboard is gone ? Also I how do I turn the rear view mirros inward ? And finally the truck doesn't work properly, I was told I need a lock assembly ? I'm looking for a Mercedes Manchanic in the Philadelphia-South Jersey areas. Thanks.

Issue was Resolved as follows...
I used an Actron 9175 OBDII Scanner Tool. The Scanner indicated a fault in the Crank Position Sensor. I was able to clear the fault thru the scanner and then check to make sure that the same code recurred. Either the 9175 or the 9180 Scanner work well with this 2006 C230.
