Request tech's help - timing cover sealant application
This is a repeat post; no concerns where I previously asked, but since it's in a critical area, I'm trying to find a definitive answer from a tech familiar with this engine inside.

I applied MB sealant to the timing chain cover yesterday, installed it, and continued re-assembly.
I think I may have screwed the pooch on one location, at an oil gallery where it meets the timing chain cover. See photos. Orange color is the Benz sealant.
I cringe at going backward, but blocking an oil passage would be worse than bad.
Is that curved area, the crescent slot, for spraying oil onto the timing chain or IP sprocket? I initially thought the circle area on the timing chain cover was designed to meet the oil gallery opening passage flush, but now I think there may be a slight gap designed to push oil into that slot and direct oil onto timing chain.
Thanks for the help!
