Default repairs

My '82 300D has a tasch that works half the time. Where's the sensor? What's the probable cause?
The mileage last check was again about 17 mpg. mIs this common? Mostly highway. How improve it?
Also, the compressor for the air conditikoning is locked uup. What's some advice for repair.
The car is growing on me. Had to replace the universal, and cleasn the injectors, and replace the battery. Has a nice ride and good power.

Default RE: repairs

was it 124.130 terr? it would help much if you include the first 6 digits chassis number so i can have idea about your car.

the sensor should be on the starter ring gear.
you can check the resistance:
AB Electronik 1000 ohm
Beru 530 ohm
VDO 1900
(other) 0.4 -2.5 ohm
all is plus or minus 10 ohms. anything beyond that needs replacement.

also check the voltage with engine running: >4 volts AC voltage rises with speed.
Inspect sensor for accumulation of dirt or metal chips since your problem seems intermittent. check the connector too.

Calibrating the injection pump and noozle (injector) could greatly improve fuel economy.

compressor pistons inside could have been damage, but first check if it is electromagnetic clutch or spring plate.
