Powered window stopped working

I have a 1992 MB 400e. Yesterday I was rolling up the front passenger window and it stopped about 2" from the top before completely closing. It made no sound whatsoever. I can tell that the motor is still getting power because my dome light dims a little bit when I depress the window switch. I tried manually moving the window using my hands while my wife depressed the window switch and it wouldn't budge. I'd like to at least close the window so rain doesn't enter the car. Any suggestions?

Correct, I have tried the switch up and down repeatedly with no success. A while back, I tried removing the door panel (on the drivers side) for a different problem. It appeared as though I was going to damage the panel, so I didn't finish removing it. So, I'm afraid to remove it now because I feel I'll damage it.....guess I'll bring it to a mechanic

Could possibly be a confused memory issue or the obstacle stop/protect design. Although this design is made to stop movement of the windowtravel if an obstruction is met, such as a person or a limb, it might be worth a try to clear the memory by battery cable off or remove fuse for a minute, then retry, with window button in first detent position vs second detent position. If this does not work, regulator probably has a bad spot.
