OK to use synthetic oil in a 1993 300E?
This is my first post so I wanted to just Hello right off the bat and to please forgive me if my post is not up to spec.
I have a question regarding my dad's 1993 300E. His owner's manual says that he is only to use conventional oil in his car and is not to use synthetic under any circumstances. I'm pretty sure this is a load of crap and I was looking to get him over to a high quality Mercedes certified synthetic (not sure what the good ones are for his car). However, I wanted to make sure this was a legitimate course of action prior to doing it.
A little about me: I'm fairly informed on oils and lubricants, oil change intervals, and other service related items on my 99.5 VW Jetta TDI and I'm pretty active over on tdiclub.com. But, I'm sure you guys are much more up on mercedes specs than I am so I signed up over here.
Thanks for the assistance in advance.
