Hi, I am New to Mercedes.... been a Volvo guy for 10 years and was in a 1999 300D the other day and loved the ride.
My question is, in your opinion, which yearand model, (Does not necessarily have to be dielsel)between 1997-2003 has the least amount of breakdowns. Or in other words did Mercedes make a car from 1997-2003 that could somewhat compare to the 1985 Diesels W123 in reliabilty and low maintenance costs?.

Tell me what models are junkers and to avoid,and also which models and years between 97 and 2003 you can recommend.

I have looked at some reviews on Edmunds, and Epinions and just thought I'd come here to ask the experts before I purchase...

Prefer 300D, E Series,320gas, 430gas
