Default ML500: P0335 Crankshaft Positon Sensor CIRCUIT malfunction

Hello;

I have a 2002, ML 500 about 77,000 miles on it. The car was switched of for about 4 hrs.

I tried to start the car. Dd not start.

the car was trying to start.. (ost clicking phase).

The auto mechanic tried to jump start it and tried to turn the key about 20-30 times with Gas pedal push.

Finally the car started. but immedialtely after the car started I got this

P0335 Crankshaft Positon Sensor CIRCUIT malfunction error in the check engine light.

Is this a real issue or just a result of something else.

Thanks.

Replace the crankshaft position sensor located on the rear driver side of the engine near the bell housing. Obscenely problematic, sensor has been updated/improved.

Definatley the crankshaft angle(position) sensor, change it for a new one. It's a bit of a tight space on the C320 saloon. I've just done mine today. Looking good so far. It's a cheap part and if your handy it's not a real problem to change yourself. As the previous reply, it sits at the rear of the engine. just off top dead centre.

good luck!!

Default P0335 crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

1.How much does a Sensor typically cost.
2. The code said it was SenSor A. Should I just change sensor A or should I do also change B too.
3. If I want to do it myself.. can some one point me to some instructions please.

thanks.
