Default ML350 Starting problem

Hello,

I have a 2010 ML350 bluetec, and have noticed the following problem on hot days. When I get into my truck, I turn the key to accessory and wait for the Comand centre to do it's thing and for the "please wait" notice to go away while I buckle up and the steering wheel comes down to its preset. Several times now, however, everything shuts down and the wheel goes back up, even before I turn the key to start. If I try to start the truck at this time, nothing happens, no crank, no dash, nothing. I have tried turning the key back to off and over again, taking the key out, putting it in the opposite way to what I had initially inserted it, all for no change. It seems like my truck doesn't like the warm weather, and it sometimes takes up to 5 minutes to get it to start. I only have one key, so I can't switch it out to see if there is an issue with it. I have read comments about ignition switches and crank sensors, but would like some advice if possible. Thanks

Most likely you have a bad ignition/EIS switch. pretty common issue, Ive replaced a bunch of them and it sounds like the same symptoms to me. Someone with an MB scan tool will find faults for circuit 50.

Default Ml350 EIS switch

I started reading this forum when I had a problem with my 2010 ML 350 Ignition switch. It seems to me that this is a common problem and that Mercedes is not admitting to it.I went to the dealer and they said it's a common problem. There is only 24000 miles on this vehicle and it cost $ 1100.00 for the repair. I have no problem with routine maintenance but an EIS switch should not go at 24000 . Please let me know if you have had a defective EIS in your vehicle. I am looking to start an action and get mercedes to make this eis a recall . Thank You. Any questions you can email me at Abcwoodworking@gmail.com

Hi folks, it was the ignition switch that needed replacing, and luckily it was done under warranty.

Thanks I did that's why I am trying to get everyone together so maybe mercedes will acknowledge that this is a problem.
