ML320 Keyoff Lights Off?
All:
I've been hearing confilicting reports about the headlamps going off when I turn off the ingnition in my 1999 ML320. Every car I've ever owned shuts off the lamps when turing the vehicle off - what's the straight sccop - is there an aftermarket mod or I am totally confused? Thanks in advance

From you replies it sounds like there must be some hope...
What 'settings' are you referring to? Let me know & I'll check - both my dealer and private mechanic indicated there are none.
Thanks in advance.

I am sitting here with my manual and there is absolutely no page that looks like that nor any page that contains that info. I can't find any reference to any of this in the index either. (Now you can see why I asked the question) Originally my dealer/repair guy told me that $400 would buy me an aftermarket upgrade to have the functionality you are referring to in your manual - so..... how do I follow the instructions in your manual - for example What is "...instrument cluster (A1) I have no reference to such a switch. Also refernces to Circuit 61 and 15 are starting to lead me to believe you have a non-US version of the manual I have - could the manual and the function of my vehicle be different?
I really appreciate your help and patience with this! A thousand thanks - I'm going outside to start my ML320 turn on the lights / turn off the car and sit on the porch in the dark to see if the lights go off in 60 seconds - Believe it or not I've never tried that but here goes.... more later.

so maybe your car didn't got this function? the cut-in function started only on 2001 models. maybe this answers the question.
giving me your VIN can help a lot. i will know what you got on it.

So... I started the ML320, put it in gear - rocked it back and forth on the street with the lights on, turned off the car, locked the doors and sat on my porch for ten minutes - the lights never went off, I eventually shut them down manually - ugh - I don't have the VIN on me as I am at work - what else my lead to the next step in my inquiry?
