Question Missfire c230 kompressor

Hi all

C230 Kompressor, is missfiring in cylinder 3.

1-The missfire starts 5 minutes after the engine is on. When engine is turned off after the missfire happens, and turned back on the missfire goes away and returns 2-3minutes after, yet when you gently "rev" the engine at every stop and keep the RPM needle up a bit the missfire does not happen at all.

2-exhaust fumes smell weird (ethynol) and the exhaust tip leaks water vapour, but the car passed emisions nicely, because fortuantely the car did not missfire since it was being reved.

I know for sure it is not the coils, because i did the test, i have changed cylinder three's injector and the missfire went away for about a week and came back. I am pretty sure it is not a mechanical fault because the missfire does not occur all the time.

I took her to MB dealer and they said if its not the injector, then its the valve spring!!?? blah blah, I dont believe them. Dealers are not reasonably priced and are not trust worthy enough to me.

If any of you guys can help me with your experiences, tips and advice please help.

she is a 2003, C230 Kompressor coup, 6 speed manual.

Default wire arc

found my c230 plug wires arcing to the plug cover. Run car without plug cover and see if it runs ok.

Had Identical problem. Did the MAF route, various sensors etc all with no luck.

Decided to change the plugs, when I noticed a gray like dust near cylinder 3 seemed odd also noticed a gray area on the plug/coil cover. All wires and coils looked brand new, no issues. Swapped Plugs and decided to test drive without cover installed. My c230 was like a hot roadster all power back no problems or missing. Put cover back on, problem returned instantly. Inspected wires no damage but decided to wrap plug wires with electrical tape. Re-installed cover. All issues resolved, no missing or hesitation at all. The 3 plug wire was arcing to the cover causing the miss fire and rough idle. I suggest new better insulated wires or do like I did and wrap the wires with electrical tape. You will know if this is the issue by running the car with out the cover. Good Luck.
