Default Memory codes

I have a 1999 CLK 430, and need to change the starter. In order to do this, I have to disconnect the battery----so I need the memory codes. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get hold of these? I have the radio code, but that is all.I've been trying with WIS, but can't get anywhere.

Default RE: Memory codes

I think you miss understand.

If you disconnect thebattery all you need to get it up and running again is the Radio Code which is a security feature to discourage radio theft unless the code is known.

However in order to determine what might be wrong with the vehicle...assuming something is wrong...is that the first step is to get the on board diagnostic codes READ using a scanner. It is quite possible that no code has been stored. On the other hand...
