Hello:

Would like to know how to program the keyless entry for a 1991 500SL I recently purchased. The former owner sent me a new unit (I know it is the correct unit because the physical key does work in the doors, trunk, etc.) but would like to use the keyless lock/unlock feature as well. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

11/18/04 Okay, new batteries in the unit and followed the instructions in the manual, still no luck, so at this point I assume whatever is wrong must be on the vehicle side. I was told that there should be a light that flashes in the vehicle sensor (by the locks) if it is receiving the signal from the remote, but I get no lights flashing from any of the 3 sensors. I also noticed that the central locking system is not working, i.e., when I lock the driver's door with the master key the passenger door does not also lock, same with unlocking. Perhaps there is some connection?
