I recently bought a 2005 C Class coupe. I had the comand unit retro-fitted with the ipod inteface kit. The manual statesthat I can scan through folders etc by using the phone buttons on the wheel, however, this doesn't work for me, instead, in the driver display by speedo, it just says phone unavailable. Also, i don't seem to have the nav screen on the same display (which shows compass direction/arrow instructions). Does this mean the installer didn't link it correctly to the driver display? The ipod plays really well through the system, just i have to select an artist/album/playlist before i connect it up. I do get the word ipod in the driver display with track titles. Is it a case of taking it to mercedes for them to sort out, which no doubt will cost a fortune!?

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

I have the same issue with my integration kit in my 07 230SS. I'm not sure if it's because the car isn't pre-wired for a phone or if it's just a matter of the dealer re-flashing the ECU and telling it to acknowledge the ipod via the phone controls. As soon as I find out I'll let you know or vice versa.

 

sounds like a software coding problem with the instrument cluster, only the dealership can fix this. should have been done with the installation. it is definitely not a physical problem
