Default Idle Speed Setting on Stromberg 175CD carb

Hi

I'm trying to adjust the fast and slow idle speeds on a 1979 w123 230 (115 engine). There are 2 bolts to screw in/out which are next to eachother to adjust this (I think)but when I turn them it makes very little difference to the idle speed. I think the one on the left is the fast idle and right is normal idle. I'm concernd that I can't adjust the normal idle below about 975 rpm (I thing 850 is what I am aiming for). Am I turning the correct screws? If so what could be causing it to not let me go lower than 975 rpm?

Any help would be fantastic.

The shorter of the 2 bolts is the fast idle control.

Thanks Shan.

I still need to work out what is causing the idle screw to bottom out ... will do that tomorrow.

You may need to check on the vacuum regulator adjusting bolt if your car is fitted with a/c. There is a link from the accelarator lever to it to control the idle speed.
There is also a short lever linkage that controls the throttle setting. You will find it just under the choke. Its length is also crucial to idle speed setting.
I have a print version of the workshop manual. A few pages are devoted to Stromberg 175 CDT. If youthink that could help, please e-mail me: shanvks@hotmail.com.
Shan.
