Hood will not open: 1986 190e

This morning, I went out to my 1986 190e.
I went inside the drivers compartment and pulled the inner hood release on the lower left.
The pull in the outer grill emerged. I pulled it out the rest of the way with my fingers as I always do.
However, the hood did not release, so I cannot open the hood.
I pushed up and down on the hood a few times, pushed the grill ull back in and out a few times, and retried the inner drivers compartment latch a few times to try and release the hood, but this did not open the hood.
Any thoughts--how can I now open the hood?
Thanks.

I am not so sure if i got it the right way round... but if so, i think u need another hand with u... so when u pull the release hood inside the compartment the other person would lift the hood up while ur pulling it inside the compartement... does that make any sense? hehehe

what body, 201?
the catch (upper half) only goes to the crossmember. just pull that one. no pressure really.
i assume that the main lower half lock is already disengage.
