HELP mysterious horn under hood

While driving the other day a horn began to blow at short intervals. Upon pulling over & checking I determinded the sound was coming from a device mounted on the passenger side under the hood. The only way to make it stop was to cut the wire. Have had this car for 5 years and have never encountered this before. Would appreciate any information that could shed some light on this problem. Don't know if it is a coincidence or not but the trunk is now locked and will notopen with the key. Once again....have never had a problem with the trunk not opening. If you could help I surely would be grateful!!!! Thanks

Sounds to me like you had an alarm sensor malfunction that set the alarm's horn off.

Didn't realize the car had an alarm system and/or alarm sensor. Would this malfunction cause the trunk not to unlock?

Anyone have any info on the 84 300SD?
