I bought a 2008 E 350. The gps navigation database seems to be ancient in spite of the cars 2008 age. Speak to the dealership and they don't seem to know much about it. I am concerned that if I spring for the latest update I won't get much of an update at all. Does anybody have any experience with this area? When do the updates come out? Really strange that it would have such an incomplete and/or old database for a year 2008. When I see updates listed on ebay they talk about multiple disks. What is that all about?

 

I have a 2005 E500, and I am experiencing exactly the same problem. My nav system began having problems last week. The service writer said that my problem was a faulty DVD disk. When he ejected the disk from the DVD reader, it was a copy with no version identifier. The service writer told me that I needed to upgrade my maps and sold me a single DVD containing maps for the US, Canada, and Hawaii--2010 version. Now neither the maps nor the GPS are working. So, be cautious and ask questions before upgrading.
