The front defroster function on our 2005 C240 wagon doesn't work very well. There is a decent-sized area in the middle of the windshield that stays fogged and the side windows don't defog very quickly. When the defroster is activated, the fan is on full blast and very noisy and the temperature is very hot, neither can be adjusted.

Since it takes so long to defog, using the front defroster is rather unpleasant, so I've taken to simply turning on the AC and directing the airflow out the top vents. This lets me control the fan speed and temperature and works as least as well as the defroster, if not better.

Is this normal, or do I have a problem with the car?


On a related topic, the rear wiper motor is also quite noisy when it wipes (much louder than the front wipers). Is this normal?
