Does anybody know if there is another engine and transmission that may be compatible with my 1975 300D chasis. My engine has given up on me and I wondering if maybe a small block chevy engine will fit in it. Please help!

 

Yep, another 75 300D transmission and engine in good shape. There are a few adds in The STAR, the MBCA quarterly magazine, for crate engines, for most Mercedes models including diesels. So if you can get the car for a cheapo price, that is what I would do? Or find a auto recycler (junk yard back in the old days) that has a 300D that was rear ended, and take a mechanic alone with you, to check the engine and tranny. I think there is a website named German Autodismantlers that have engines and transmissionn for Mercedes, Audi, Vauxhaul and most Fatherland cars.

 

Not sure if compatible would be the right question.....

An engine transplant can be done.... it may end up being a lot more work than what you bargained for, but it can be done.

I know this isn't your year or model, but this is an example of what can be done.
