I have a 98 CLK 320 with 81,000 miles. Engine stops without warning... no rough running or anything. Starts okay when cold and runs for about 20 to 30 minute. After sitting for 20 to 30 minutes it will start again but only to stop after about 10 minutes. It will start again in 20 to 30 minutes. No check engine light is on. Local Benz dealer says they can't find anything wrong with it..... and no problem codes showed up when checked out. A new fuel filter was installed but I still have the same problem. Any suggestions????

maybe fuel pump, but needs to check the car on the moment when the problem is currently present to confirm.

 

Turned out to be a defective crankshaft position sensor. It was replaced and problem is gone.
