Hi - I bought a used E550 Cabriolet and noticed a leaking strut. The car has build code 483 Vehicle Dynamics Package and I noticed the struts are Monroe made in Spain. Monroe USA does not sell a replacement. The struts have electronics hooked to them and apparently adjust on the fly or with the Sport mode. I'm having trouble getting aftermarket parts and am seeing prices for the strut around $1000. Does anyone have info on better prices for the adjustable or if I can put non adjustable struts on instead? If I do opt out of the adjustable how much difference in ride quality will I see. Part of the reason I bought the car is that I would like some form of suspension that rides well on choppy roads but still has strong performance when needed. Not sure I want to spend $6K at the dealer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What did you end up doing about this? I’m dealing with the same situation with my 2011 E550 coupe. I have read somewhere else that if you install struts without the electronic damping connector then it will automatically convert the car to sport mode.. I drive in sport all the time so that would save me the hassle of having to press the button every time I start the car. Anyone know if that is true?

Seems like we're all in the same boat, I bought a used 2013 MB e550 Cabriolet, with Vehicle Dynamics Package (Code 483) w/ 25K mile about 3.5 yr ago. Nicest car I've ever had. last month at 83K mile I noticed a groan type noise going over speed bumps, that progressed to sharp thunks when over rough pavement. I started looking for replacement front struts, I got part # 2073231400 from the right strut, and noticed they were Monroe, made in Spain. checking with the MB dealer, Pt # 2073231400 sold for $1240 each (Left strut 2073231300) , I kept looking, some MB related parts sites were $945 and $917, FCP euro had Bilstein kit for front and rear for $1938. But I didn't read anything in the part details, about the Bilstein's being compatible with VDP code 483. Finally I found germanautoparts.com $330.98 apiece, for part # 2073231400R / 1300L the guy, Mark I talked to at germanautoparts.com said their main place is in Galway NY, however they have a warehouse in LA to ship from also.
