Default E320CDi Heater problems

Hi I have a E320CDI where the heater has stopped working. It is a 2004 Elegance with 40,000mls and up to now has been fine. The air con seems to work fine, as does the fan, the coolant levels are ok but the car produces no heat although it will still cool the car with the air con. The automatic blowers are ok and also seem to work fine. Any help on what the cause of this fault could be would be appreciated

Hello, there is a heater control valve near the cowl that goes bad VERY often.. The wiper motor has to come out and the cowling near the lower windshield has to come out. It is under there.

[align=left]Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I've had a look at the area that you are describing and think that I can see the control valve that you are referring to. It seems to embedded in the bulkhead and I'm not sure how to remove it. I can see 4 pipes going into the valve, 2 held on with spring clips and 2 with what seems like a retaining plate. Q. Are two of the pipes part of the air-con system? If I remove these pipes, can I remove the valve from within the engine bay or do I need to strip out the underside of the dashboard and get to it from inside the car? I think that if it's the latter, it will be too big a job for me.

Your help is appreciated.
Brian
