Hi all,

I have a RHD 1996 E230, with 230,000 km on the clock.

I took it in to have the clutch replaced. However, when I fetched the car, the battery was flat. The mechanic was unconcerned, and jump started the car. It ran fine, so I came home.

On the way back the indicators came on, ALL of them, and stayed on. Then the hooter (horn in the USA?) went of. Then the indicators went off, but the hooter/horn kept going off every now and again.

Got home and the car would not lock. The red/green lights on the mirror work, but the doors do not lock.

At this point I decided to take the car back... and discovered that in less than 5 mins the battery had run flat.

Any ideas? I don't know enough to judge whether or not this is something that has many possible causes, or only one or two.

I will if necessary take the car back, but it is actually quite far from here and I perhaps would rather see what I can do myself, or take it somewhere else.
