Computer memory resetting?

Computer memory resetting?
I read somewhere that it is a good idea to reset the driver memory within the computer when you buy a secondhand Mercedes. This was done by disconnecting the battery cable and joining them together for a period of time, and then reconnecting the battery. The theory being that the previous owner drove the vehicle in a particular sort of way which the computer memory has recorded, and then you come along. Can anyone confirm whether this recommendation has merit? Or even if it works?

Yeah but over what period of time does it adapt? I didn't think it would be immediate and thought that the computer would assess driving patterns over a period of time or distance.

does "driver adaptive" ring the bell?
it is constantly adapting to your driving style and it even compensate the transmission wear. the oil filling value on the pistons are constantly changing and it can detect the slip, your pedal position, and engine torque.
just drive it the way you do.

I think that resetting works on Toyota's and some other cars, but with the electronics in the Mercedes, You could disconnect the battery for a month and not make a difference. All the info is written Onto RAM chips in the control units, and does not loose memory.
