The driver's seat in my CLK will only travel about half way back. I believe that something has fallen in the gear track but because I can't get to the front frame bolts due to it being in the forward position I can't remove the seat frame to check it out. Can I remove the seat bottom with the frame in the car?

 

first thing is to make sure the seat is normalised. move the seat all the way forward completely and hold the seat switch for a sec. then go up and down with the front and the back..then move the seat backrest all the way front and all the way back ..now try moving the seat back again. and also the headrests. tihs will normalize the seat. keep trying this and you could have luck with the seat....ofcourse check the seat track for coins jammed in there.

 

I exprienced this problem with my wife's clk430, the problem was a broken wire under the seat.
