Default C180 - 2001, Air Conditioning

The EC light has been on for a while on my car. Checked the refrigerant, and sure enough it needed a top up which I have done. However the EC mode has stayed on and I still cannot turn it off. Whilst I accept there maybe another fault in the system, I got the imrpession there was a method of resetting the air conditioning on these models. Since this particular version of Air Conditioning doesn't have any digital display, the method of resetting elsehwere in these forums doesn't work. I wanted to try a reset before I started trying to find fault with other components.

Does anybody know a way around this ? Many thanks for your time.

try disconnecting the battery for 1/2 hour. This should reset the computer. But remember you will will to reset theABS ARS EPS one touch power windows, remote key sunroof, The reset after the battery is reconneted is in your owner manual.

When I added a new CAI I did this to reset the MAS and it woriked also, the instant start feature is now working.

That was a good suggestion, thanks. I have tried it, and although a reset has been successful (ESP, Windows etc), the EC light has stayed on, so I am guessing there is a fault elsewhere.

Many thanks anyway Allan.

Your welcome, it could be a bad connection or a fault in the system, better have a dealer check it oout or a good shop.

you simply need to delete the fault code and everything will be okay.

the refrigirant sensor detected low pressure and deactivate the compressor.

find a scanner or ask the authorised workshop to do it. the procedure on deleting it is a bit different on navigating through the menu.

Auto Zone will probably delete the code for nothing. They do nice things like this for people, at least around here. OBD 2 is OBD 2
