Default A/C Recharge

My '95 SL uses R134a doesn't it? I can't find the refill valve to confirm.

Where is the valve?

D'oh. I knew I'd find it if I posted this message asking where it is. It wasn't hidden at all (that was the problem). It's next to the leftside fan right out in front.

Thanks, me.

i know you can find it. i was getting on a deep thought there must be something else.

with all those 12 pistons fitted inside your engine block, i bet there's little space left under the hood for other things.

Okay, wait a minute. I bought an R-134a recharge kit but the coupler doesn't fit. The fitting on the car is too big. This car drives me nuts.

Does MB use a weird sized fitting?

Well. I found it. I'm sure. I think.

The first one I found is on the high pressure side. Good thing the recharge kit wouldn't fit. It would have 'sploded the refill can. Phew.

The low pressure side fitting is under a couple of parts that need to be removed and snuggled against another to make it very hard to get to. I hate working on this car.

without the aid of charging machine, it is easier to charge from the low side.
engine running and A/C "on".

there is a black sticker label somewhere that shows the right quantity (when empty).

if not empty, watch for the quantity via the "sight glass".
it is integrated on the filter/drier... on top of it.

I don't know what the capacity is. I put one pound of R-134a in and the PSI is at about 43. The A/C is nice and cold again.
