Default C Class Computer system

hi,
i want to know if theC classcomputer stores a log of all the errors that have happened in the past. I know there is a **** to clear the last error that occured, i am wondering if it clears it from the screen or it clears it form the memory permanently. Let me put it in this way: is there a way to retreive all the pasterrors from the computer system or not? If yes how?

Thanks,
Rock

Hi,
Yes and No!
It depends What you are looking for, and whether the garage/dealer has cleared those faults.

A PERMANENT record is not kept.
However the computer stores "all" fault codes until requested to clear them. Strangely I'm not 100% sure if these are lost with a totally dead/disconnect battery. I suspect so.
Clearing a fault on the instrument cluster doesn't remove it from the "computer".
Its just a driver "peace of mind" procedure.
The computer has to be accessed with a scanner (as with the ASSYST system) in order to clear the faults from the computer memory.

Make sense?

Stuart

hi,
That make sense. Thanks for the reply. I have some more questions.

1. when those errors are cleared by the dealer/garage may be on servicing...i am not sure.
2. what kind of fault codes are stored in the computer i know all the ones that we see on the instrument cluster are stored.
say if my cd gets stuck in the CD player..if thats stored too, i know this one doesnt show up on the instrument cluster?

Thanks,
Rock
