A college buddie of mine is selling his 1980 240D.
I have owned 4 mercedes. Never a diesel. My dad had a few when I was a kid in the 70s.

Anyhow...I am in love with the looks of these cars.

He wants 3K for the car.
I can probably get for 2500.
No rust.

This is what he wrote to me:

"I recently put 4k (have all receipts) into everything from new tires ... interior ... lights (new bosch fog) ... engine (clean/flush/plugs/wires) ... front windshield all sorts of little things like plugs, wires, hoses ... injection system clean ... fuel system clean ... cleaned fuel tank (they take it out...blast it clean put back in) ... new shocks, muffler, has AC that works well, and is air ride suspension so it floats.

needs wood grain work on the dash...4 speed manual

**when it rains heavy the floor is wet....so it has a leak somewhere...the carpet gets a little wet....not sure what is up with this. No mechanical issues".

Supposedly a full new fuel injection system 2 yrs ago or less.

So...that is what he wrote to me.
What should I know before buying it?
Should I buy?

oh yeah...it has 175,000 miles

I have not had a mercedes in like 2 years and it is killing me.....ready to get one again and never be without one again!
