I have a 96 SL500, I recently noticed that the "highlight" (3rd light) is not working. My local repair shop will be happy to scout this for me for more that I'm willing to spend. Ihave checked and replaced a bulb of the 5 or 6(escapes me at the moment) but the light with the brakes on doesn't work. The necessity of having the key on for the brake lights to work (is this normal) and getting my wife to step on the pedal "Is it working yet" makes this hard to troubleshoot, Any ideas. Reg brakelights on the corners work fine.
