Default Bluetooth and Blackberry

I have an 8700 with Cingular and a 2005 Mercedes with the Bluetooth puck.

The dealer installed the phone yesterday (>$2300 on a "prewired car") and it works perfectly on incomming calls. Address book down loads, voice dial works, radio mutes, etc.

However on outgoing calls, when the called party answers, it drops out of hands free. You can then talk on the hand set but nothing comes out of the speakers.

However, the bluetooth connection is still active, it shows the call in progress on the screen and keeps the radio muted till the call ends. You can hang up with the button on the dash.

You can press the track ball and re-establish bluetooth and it will go back to hands free but it drops out again after about 5 seconds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as: Mercedes Benz, the dealership, Cingular and the Mercedes Benz experts in California just tell me that: an 8700 won't work in a Mercedes at all, buy a Razor, or best of all, "using an 8700 in that car could lock up the system and void the warranty".
