I had the battery out for a while and when I stuck it back in I put it in the wrong way (yeah I know). The car starts, drives, lights indicators etc work but the alternator doesnt kick in so the lights and everything else is running off the battery which drains. The ignition lights stay on after ignition.

Any ideas what I might have blown - alternator / resistors?

Its a 280se with a 300 diesel conversion.
