The Heat/AC light(s) flashing is informing of a problem with HVAC system. Diagnostic codes can be read from the HVAC control panel that are quite good and can isolate just about any Heat or A/C problem. Do a diagnostic check of this system first.

Probably not. Heat not turning off could also mean, A/C not turning on. If the A/C compressor is correctly engaged (always on these cars, well mostly all the time), and you still have huge overheat, it could be the Mono/Duo valves. The control panel as last option. The valvesdo go bad as they work very hard all the time. They are expensive (several hundred dollars each). Use the diagnostics on the control panel to point you in the right path for repairs.
