Default Adding Parktronic

Does anyone have any experience with or opinions on adding Parktronic to an '06 E-Class sedan?

The problem is getting the parts at a sensible price.

Actually installing Parktronic is relatively straightforward since some of the wiring is already in place due to digital control. This aspect means some coding (need MB equipment) will be needed.

Installing a "similar" non MB system is a little easier AND will cost a fraction of the money. Thats what MB dealers do.

Bad news is that after market systems aren't as integrated as the MB system.

Stuart,

Thanks for your reply. You confirmed some of the feedback I got from the dealer (i.e. "thousands of dollars"including changing the bumper!). However, they did not mention any after market systems.

I live in So Cal; Do you know (can you recommend) anyone that uses OEM parts to perform this mod?

Cheers,

Rich

Hi Rich.

On earlier models you could just change the bumper inserts.
Not adequately familiar with 06 E Class bumper style without looking. Maybe it does need the whole bumper to get the MB finish to the sensor mounts.

Sorry don't have details of any after market but these range from very simple (just audible warning on the rear) to audible and visible on both front and rear.

I suggest Google and eBay

Stuart
