My husband just bought me an A170 yesterday (from Auction) but on the way home he said it wont pick up any speed and he cant drive any faster than 30 mph. This is my first automatic car as I am now disabled but we dont know if we are doing anything wrong or if there is a problem with the car??????? Has anyone got any ideas I could try or is it a mechanical problem with the car itself. Would really appreciate some advice as cant really afford to go to the garage now (car is a T reg but very well maintained).

I'm no expert but I would check the simple things that are free first. Check if the car has a speed limiter and if so is it set on for 30mph, could be that simple but merc garages would probably charge an arm & leg for that info. Mines on the steering column on the end of the cruise control stick, if its on you will see a small yellow light on the stick, push the end to switch off, hope thats it.........
