Friends, I need help!

I have a 1995 C280 at, 120,000 miles it started to leave a small spot of oil on my drive way, now at 145,000 miles that spot has gotten much bigger, I had a mechanic look at it and he said that it’s the head gasket leaking towards the rear of the engine. I was told it’s a common problem seen on this year and type of car. Can any one agree on that? I am considering doing the work myself does anyone know where I can get manuals /specifications or any tips to offer I can sure use all the info I can get

 

head gasket leaks are common on the 104 engines as well as the upper front cover- both leaks would be fixed with head gasket replacement.
