Default '89 190E stalls at stoplights etc. first thing each morning?

My '89 190E has begun to stall or shut off first thing in the mornings while in start/stop type of traffic driving where you have to stop for lights or signs or even other cars ??
Once the car as been driven to operating temp, it doesn't occur again ? Haven't even noticed it happening after work where the car is cooled down either ?
Any suggestions ?
Thanks,
Padge

1.> try to avoid the red light, signs and other car in front of you.

2.> clean the inside of the throttle valve. just use the carb cleaner to swipe off those dirt which restrict the idle speed air intake.

3.> check and clean idle speed control valve too.

I found a good lead from a thread right here in the General Tech ... it was under a problem with a 300E cutting out intermittently and the thread was started by CUMINED with a reply from member MAWBS who owns a 190E and stated as follows:

Hi, i have a 190e 2.6 auto that started intermittent stalling as if the ignition was switched off. After much testing fault turned out to be Overvoltage Protection Relay. This relay supplies 12v to all the cold start devices and the idle control valve. when the idle control valve looses its supply it does not control tickover and the motor stops. It got continiously worse. I tested for a 12v supply on the red/blue cable onto the idle control valve. On the 190e the relay is situated hid away behind plastic cover behind battery. It is a tall relay with a clear plastic cover and a 10amp fuse in the top of it. Hope this might be of help for you. Mark.

If there are any additional checks I should make, please let me know and thanks,

Hey Sleepwalker,
Our threads crossed in the mail I guess,... I will definitely remove the breather and clean all the pieces and parts ....
I assume we are talking about all the external mechanical / moving parts around the intake area, correct ?
Thanks,
Padge

yes, it's the one inside attached to the intake and not the throttle body.
for as long as you don't see white or black exhaust smoke and the problem is intermittent, it's just a loose electrical or sludge problem.
