Default 450 sel fuel pump

I have a 1978 450 sel and was wondering if I can use any aftermakert fuel pump to replace the original one which I have to tap it to start it working. The originals seem to be a bit expensive, even on Ebay they go for over $100. Thanks for your time.

When you replace the pump, a new one should be capable of pumping about 10 bar, and 1 Litre which I think is about 1/4 of a gallon in 20 seconds.

By the time you consider how much modifying you will need to do to get a different pump into the car, I think it would be best to put the same type in. But ask around a bit more and you might find one locally to you that is a bit cheaper?

Thanks for the response and the specs needed of an aftermarket unit.

Try checking with some of the sponsers of this forum.

They have some pretty decent prices most of the time.

Thanks for the idea, SL600_Cruzin. I'll email some of them and see what comes up.
