I have a 1997 SL500 with part of the led brake light out. How do I replace. There is no room from the inside of trunk lid to remove. Do I remove the lense first? Can I repart the section that is out or have to replace the entire unit?

 

Old 129 don't have LED 3rd brake light... They are all bulbs.... There's two way you can take it out.. First keep doing what you're doing and try to fish it out... Or you can try to pop the cover on the outside and then unscrew the assembly and take the whole 3rd brake light now. But you will most likely break the cover and will have to get a new one. Second way is easier but more expensive.
