I recently switched out my dented up deck lid on my '84 wagon for a clean one. The new lid had been completely stripped, which means I had to switch over all the parts as well. I switched over the lock and have not been able to get it to work since.

At first, when I tried to push the lock cylinder in to release the lock, it would not push at all- it was as if it was frozen. Then I took the car to a body shop to get some work done, and when I got it back the lock had been worked on and the cylinder would push in but it still wont release the lock. I thought I had it fixed today so I closed the deck lid and it latched, and now I can't get it unlatched! I tried moving everything around on the lock from the inside of the car and the latch will not release. Does anyone know how these locks work and/or what I'm doing wrong and/or how to get the deck lid opened up again? I'm desperate here, help me out! Thanks.
