2008 E350 Radio and Navigation Audio

I must have missed something in the manual, but is there a way to use the navigation system without listening to the radio.CD audio on my E350?

you can adjust the volume of the radio to minimum and turn up the volume of the navigation when she speaks to you.. another poster said mute but im not sure if that mutes the radio and the nav.
