2006 CLS 500 drivers seat forward and aft insufficient!

My neighbor is selling his car. We are interested but my wife (5' 4") cannot reach the gas pedal with the seat full forward. We compared the travel range to the passenger seat and its considerably different. I am wondering, if the driver seat has an issue. The driver seat movement forward and aft is about 5 inches. No thing is under the seat to restrict movement. Looking at the track, it looks like it should be able to move another couple of inches.

Any suggestions or ideas? Also the neighbor said its always been like this....
