Default 2000 C-280 Air mass sensor replacement

I have recently been informed (after check engine light diagnostic) that the K&N on my C280 has destroyed the Air mass sensor. They are telling me it is $550 bucks to replace. My question is as follows:

Is this a project that someone who is mechanically inclined can tackle?

If so how would I obtain instructions in doing so.

Also what brand and or where should I obtain the parts that are needed for the project.

Cheers,
Daniel

That is a common thing to happen. The oil on the K&N air filter will coat the element on the Air Mass Sensor and ruin it. You need to replace the sensor and put the factory air cleaner back in.
You could replace it yourself, it's not that hard. But you need to have someone reset the check engine light and reset the fuel adaptation using the factory scan tool.

I DON'T BUY IT!!! You can use K&N Filter, but you have to be very careful on using the CLEANER that they give you. The problem is not the K&N Filter, but the additive that is being used is not used PROPERLY. As far as you MAF Sensor, you can get an MAF for a lot less. Check out my website and email me!!! I can get you one for less than $300.

take care,
