Greetings! I do maintenance on a friend's 1991 SL500. He just informed me that he reset his trip odometer when he filled up with fuel and now the odometer and trip odometer has frozen, speedometer works fine. I'm assuming that the instrument panel will need to be removed to have access to the speedometer. Any thoughts, insights, or general info that might be of assistance to me? Thanks!

 

Did u ever solve your problem? I had the same deal on my 90 300 SL.

Now I haven't put 'a mile' on the car in 3 years! All I found was to pull the cluster and replace the odometer of the gear teeth [which I surmise are made of plastic! like the gears in my one wiper blade motor which is/was used to extend the wiper from side to side]
Apparently they tried to same a few nickels by usuing plastic vs. metal.
