The car rapidly overheats from just below 80c to 120c in five miles. I purchased the car a while ago but was sitting. I drove about 75 miles on the highway and noticed the temp coming up when idling. Today I flushed system put in fresh coolant, changed the thermostat and radiator cap it didn't help at all. The engine fan run autmatically at start up and auxillary fan come on. I do hear a noise from the engine fan almost like a bearing.I'm unsure of the proper turning rate. To the eye it may seems a little slow. It's not like you can see the indvidual blades or anything like that. All I do know is the temp rises quick and I'm concerned about major repairs.Radiator power flushed at Jif fy lube thermostat new what is proper temp 192? New cap? Please tell me it's not the head! I guess options are fan issue, can the radiaor still be clogged, water pump or head yikes any help would be appreciated.

Somebody said that in these case the water pump could be corroed internally.
Thanks.

I had a similar problem with my 190E. the things to try are :
1. Temperature senson on head (used to switch fan on if electric) . in some models a viscous substance is used which increases in viscosity as the temperature increases and engages fan. a good test for this type of fan is to start engine, warm up and when fan is engaged it should slice through a carot.
2. Check radiator contents and oil cap. any sludge? could have a blown head gasket.
3. blocked coolig system. used a high presure house to check this out. ie: undo heater house and run a water house into it.
4. water pump problem
let the forum know what you find. good luck!
