190E - Rear Windows won't close

Hello,
I have a ’92 190E / 2.3 with rear window issues.
This problem occurred with BOTH rear windows at the same time.
They will not close completely; they remain about three inches open. Both in the same spot. They both also seem to roll down about three inches too much.
I removed one door panel but didn’t notice anything unusual. When rolling it up, however, the cable has about three inches of play at the bottom
I replaced the child safety lock because it is the only thing I can think of in common with both windows. This did not resolve the problem.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Is sounds like you need to replace the window regulator. Do one and see if it fixes it. I don't think this problem is related from one side of the car to the next except that if you use them a lot they tend to wear out at the same time.
Buy new ones as used ones will have the same streached cables as the ones you have. Also buy with with the motor and all. It is easy to get the motor backwards when replacing these.
