Hi,

I'm thinking of changing my wheels on my A 140 and I would like to know if I could fit 17in wheels with 225/45 R17s tyres at the front and 245/40 R17s at the rear. The wheels are also 7.5 inches wide at the front and 8.5 inches wide at the rear.

Please can anyone advise me if they will fit?

Hello

I have a Merc A140, and recently put on a set of B-Class Standard Alloys,

I have had real trouble getting them on......................

A-Class Alloy studs are too long and wont hold the wheel on
B-Class Alloy studs are to wide to fit on the hub of the car

I have luckily managed to get my hand on some nuts though, BUT have had to get them trimmed down, they fit on fine on the fronts, but catch on the rear brake shoes, causing some damage, i got the studs shortened so it holds the wheels safely in place.

I have put on some 16s on, and to be honest they dont rub against the arches, i can get a full lock and i havent noticed any uncomfort in the ride.

I have been told that 17s will rub and you wont be able to get a full lock.

I had the wheels fitted by a Respectable company who specialise i alloy wheels - Pro Tyre and they did say they get a lot of trouble with Mercs when you start playing with them.

ALL I WOULD SAY IS IF YOU GET WHEELS MAKE SURE YOU GO TO A GOOD PLACE AND CHECK YOUR STUDS WILL FIT. I HAVE HAD TO USE MARK2 GOLFS STUDS
