Replace antenna mast?

Replace antenna mast?
Hi,
My antenna failed to go down far enough and got bent in a car wash....
So I ordered a new mast. My mechanic said he'd put it in for $20.
Now If I can do it, I'd rather. I saw a youtube how to video and it
called to open part of the trunk. Is there anything tricky about putting
in a new mast?...It has the steel part, and a smooth white cord.
Thanks!

Just done this .First you need to remove the ariel and its rubber grommet.Because if the plastic gear drive breaks inside it will leave broken bits inside .If you put the new gear drive in it will break it .All instructions in the packet that your new mast will come in . To find out the right mast insert you want, you can find the number on the very end tip. You just feed the new mast drive in as someone turns on the radio ,it will take the new part in and stop , then you lock up the nut with a wrench.Any problems pm me.
