Is there a thread here on how to remove the steering column on an 80's 300SD?
I want to either disable or replace the steering lock, and I'm told I probably have to remove the column.

Of course if someone has an easier way to disable the steering lock (I can easily remove the ignition lock tumbler) I'd love to hear it.

At present, I can't turn the key when the steering lock is engaged (but I've "modified" the key tumbler cylinder so I can still remove it easily from off position).

Thanks - looks like a few hours of work. I think I'll see if I can jam something in the bottom of the tumbler hole to prevent the steering lock from operating.
