HOW TO CHECK VACUUM?? PLS. HELP
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. MY e300d 1995 MODEL 124 CHASIS JUST WENT THROUGH AN ENGINE OVERHAUL AND AFTER THAT THE AUTOTRANS DOESNT ENGAGE PROPERLY AT FIRST GO AND CAUSES A VIBRATING SOUND AT INITIAL ACCELERATION, ALSO THE IDLING RPM DROPS FROM 700 TO 500 WHEN CAR IS PUT IN "D" POSITION FROM NEUTRAL, COULD THIS BE VACUUM TROUBLE, IF YES HOW TO CHECK AND RECTIFY, IF NOT WHAT COULD IT BE. PLEASE!! HELP!! I JUST DONT FEEL LIKE DRIVING MY BABY LIKE THIS AND IT HURTS.

Well, you tell conflicting stories. The drop from 700 to 500 rpms tells me that the transmission is engaging very well, and no, you don't have a vacuum problem, at least as far as these symptoms tell us....
You describe the tranny as resisting engagement when first started and first put in gear? Have you checked the fluid? Also, when was the last time the fluid was changed and a new transmissione filter put in?
